International jewellery company De Beers visited New Zealand's West Coast to do exploratory work along the coast. They used a tug charter and put their equipment aboard to take core samples as they looked for gold.

The hydraulics system and components on the tug didn't have the capability to run the drills, winches, or cranes for De Beers to take samples. FPS worked with them to update the existing equipment so they could be operational.

FPS supplied and installed the equipment they didn't have on the tug and designed a system to make it work. They upgraded the vessel's mooring system to allow the tug to function, keeping water out of the equipment that was located on the seabed.
