FPS REFURBISH HIAB SEA CRANE ON SANFORD MUSSEL HARVESTER

The HIAB team at FPS, led by Cylinder Technician Adam Henle, was recently hired by Sanford to revamp the crane on one of their mussel harvesters. As marine cranes are required to function in demanding wet environments and the saltwater takes its toll, they have to be a higher spec than your average crane.

The crane was serviced mainly to combat the rust that was starting to set in. Adam used his expertise to fully strip the HIAB, removing all the hydraulic cylinders, pins, bushes and wear guides. He was then able to strip and refurbish the cylinders, changeout the rod eye bushes and replace the worn pins and guides. Last but not least, the control valve was also removed, stripped, repaired, and reinstalled. All in a day’s work here at FPS! Before complete reassembly the crane had its new three-stage marine coating applied. Should be good for a few more years now!

FPS is pleased to be chosen as the exclusive stockist and service provider for HIAB. A Swedish manufacturer, HIAB is known worldwide as a leader in loader crane design and manufacturing.
